Surgeons trained before they operate.

The European Centre for Medical Robotics (ECMR) in Belgrade trains surgeons in robotic-assisted surgery on Toumai® systems, using the internationally recognised Orsi methodology.

01 / Overview

Skills and confidence, before treating patients.

The European Centre for Medical Robotics (ECMR Belgrade) was founded through a strategic partnership between Marlo Medic and Orsi Academy in Melle, Belgium, the global reference in robotic surgery education led by Dr. Alex Mottrie. The training hub focuses on robotic-assisted surgery on the latest Toumai® systems by MicroPort MedBot.

By adopting the internationally recognised Orsi methodology, ECMR positions Belgrade as a regional hub for robotic-assisted surgery. The centre develops the next generation of lead surgeons, who will train colleagues throughout Europe. All programs lead to official certification endorsed by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia.

03 / Training on Toumai®

The system surgeons will use, built for teaching.

Toumai® by MicroPort MedBot brings features that make robotic surgery training safer and closer to real cases.

  • Surgeon training on a robotic surgery simulator

    01

    Simulation platform

Simulated surgical courses, including modules for specific procedures, before the first case on a patient.

  • Two Toumai® surgeon consoles side by side

    02

    Dual console

An upgrade to two consoles lets two surgeons operate jointly, so a mentor can guide a trainee in real time.

  • Toumai® patient cart with robotic arms in an operating room

    03

    Tele-surgery

Remote surgical guidance and treatment. In October 2025 a surgeon in Belgrade operated on a patient in Aalst, more than 1,000 km away.

Features depend on system configuration and local product registration. Source: Toumai® system brochure, MicroPort MedBot.
